The 173rd Psi Upsilon Convention has adopted the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the Canadian Mental Health Association as recognized Philanthropic Partners of Psi Upsilon and encourages all chapters of Psi Upsilon to become involved in causes such as Out of Darkness Walks.

Mental Health issues are a major concern on college campuses, while most colleges and universities have counseling centers and offer similar services, they may have long wait times and there are many stigmas that cause student's not to seek help. Involvement in AFSP and CMHA can help break down those stigmas and allow our members better understand mental health issues, how to support one another, and better seek treatment when necessary.

You can read the general resolution that was adopted by the convention below:

General Resolution #17

Whereas:       Brothers in the Lambda Sigma Chapter at Pepperdine have become involved with the Out of Darkness Campus Walk by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and have encouraged and helped other Psi Upsilon chapters become involved with this great cause; and

Whereas:       Involvement in events like this can help raise awareness of mental health issues and decrease the stigma surrounding mental health, therefore be it

Resolved:      That Psi Upsilon Fraternity adopts the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the Canadian Mental Health Association as philanthropic partners and encourages all chapters to participate in local Out of Darkness Walks.
