Each year the Psi Upsilon Convention presents awards to chapters for special programs, philanthropy, service, and academic achievements. At the 175th Convention 20 chapters were recognized for their efforts during the 2017-18 academic year.

The Upsilon Chapter at the University of Rochester and the Lambda Sigma Chapter at Pepperdine University led the way and both were granted the Diamond Award for Exceptional Chapters. The Upsilon Chapter received the University of Rochester “Expectations for Excellence” Award, the highest award a fraternity can achieve at the University – this was due to their academic performance, community service, and for hosting events like Medallion Leadership series events with the University. The Lambda Sigma Chapter received Pepperdine’s “Fraternity of the Year” award, they were ranked #1 fraternity academically on campus with a 3.27 GPA and accumulated over 1800 hours of Community Service as an organization.

A number of chapters received the “Award of Distinction” for special programs and achievements including:

  • The Zeta Chapter who raised over $51,000 for the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth.
  • The Phi Chapter at the University of Michigan for all their achievements while recolonizing.
  • The Zeta Zeta Chapter at the University of British Columbia for their involvement in the founding of Vancouver Helping Hands Foundation.
  • The Epsilon Nu Chapter at Michigan State University for their exceptional recruitment as well as their job and internship placement.
  • The Epsilon Iota chapter at RPI for their brotherhood building events and faculty guest lectures.
  • The Lambda Sigma Chapter at Pepperdine for performing over 40 hours of service per brother.
  • The Sigma Phi Chapter for the Pathed Together Event
  • The Phi Nu Chapter at Christopher Newport University for their extraordinary outreach with the Newport News Community, especially their "Friends of Phi Nu" program.

In addition Jay LaPanne, Delta Nu '89 (Keene State) received the Distinguished Alumni Service Award, the highest honor an individual can receive from Psi Upsilon. Jay was a founder of Delta Nu Psi Fraternity at Keene State which became the Delta Nu Chapter of Psi Upsilon in 2009.
