Xi Chapter Statement

March 12, 2014

On Wednesday March 12, 2014 Psi Upsilon Fraternity was notified of a lawsuit filed in federal court in Connecticut against Psi Upsilon Fraternity, the Xi chapter at Wesleyan University, and individual members of the chapter. The lawsuit alleges a pledge of the fraternity raped a guest during a party.

“Psi Upsilon Fraternity takes all reports of risk management violations, especially those with regard to sexual assault, very seriously” Said Executive Director, Tom Fox. “We are currently investigating the incident and gathering further information.”

“Psi Upsilon offers numerous educational opportunities to our members including an annual President’s Academy, Leadership Institute, and a Chapter Leadership Program where staff members visit campuses in person. All members also complete GreekLifeEDU, an online educational program which educates students with regard to alcohol consumption, hazing, and sexual assault.”

Psi Upsilon Fraternity was founded in 1833 at Union College in Schenectady, NY and currently has 30 active chapters and colonies in the United States and Canada.
