2008-09 Scholarship Grant Application
The Psi Upsilon Foundation, through its Scholarship Grant Program, seeks to
accomplish the following goals:
- Encourage members of Psi Upsilon to pursue the highest levels of moral, intellectual and social excellence in the course of their undergraduate experience;
- Recognize and reward individuals who have achieved excellence and balance
in their intellectual and social pursuits while demonstrating outstanding moral
character; and,
- Provide financial assistance to such individuals in their continued pursuit
of a balanced and multi-faceted undergraduate education.
Toward these ends, the Psi Upsilon Foundation, upon the recommendation of its Scholarship Committee and dependent upon the number of qualified applicants, will make Scholarship Grant Awards to qualified, selected individuals for use during the 2008-09 academic year.
Eligibility
Since the program seeks to recognize and reward significant achievement over a sustained period, the recognition and assistance provided by these awards is limited to upper-division undergraduates. Applications will be accepted from undergraduate members of Psi Upsilon Fraternity who meet the following criteria for the academic year of 2008-09:
- Are enrolled as full-time undergraduate students on the campus at which their chapter is located;
- Were initiated as a member of Psi Upsilon Fraternity prior to October 1, 2007;
- Will enter their junior year, senior year, or final year of a 3-2 or similar undergraduate program of study in 2008-09 leading to a degree; and,
- Will be enrolled in a full-time, undergraduate course of study on the campus at which their chapter is located, and reside in the
residential facility of the chapter (if any) during the period for which grant
assistance is awarded.
- Since the program also seeks to foster leadership and participation in chapter activities, grants are disbursed to award recipients only while they are engaged in a full-time undergraduate course of study on their chapter' home campus. Grants will not be made available to award recipients during periods for which they are enrolled in study abroad or off-campus programs.
Awards and Selection of Recipients
The selection of recipients will be based upon demonstrated achievement in the pursuit of moral, intellectual and social excellence. Awards will include a minimum stipend of $500 to be used in meeting the recipient's educational expenses during the 2008-09 academic year. Awards in amounts greater than the minimum stipend may be provided based upon a demonstration of financial need. Applicants are not required to demonstrate financial need in order to qualify for a minimum stipend.
Members of all chapters, provisional chapters, owl clubs, and colonies are
encouraged to apply and shall be given due consideration without regard to
race, creed, ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, or other potentially
discriminatory basis.
All awards are renewable provided recipients continue to qualify under the
eligibility guidelines of the program; continue to demonstrate high levels of
scholarship, participation, and service; and submit a completed application in
succeeding years.
