Nicolas Murray Butler, Lambda 1882 (Columbia), won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1931 for his role in creating the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. While researching Brother Butler, Doug White, Phi Delta '07 (Mary Washington) came across this archived New York Times article detailing the 1912 convention. The article includes some quotes from the "unusually lively" 79th Convention dinner, and the text of a telegram sent by President William H. Taft, Beta 1878. |

Seventy Rho (Wisconsin) brothers, along with their wives and friends, came together for a full day of events in Madison on September 12. Breakfast, tailgating, football, a cruise on Lake Mendota and a banquet at night's end left the group counting the days until the annual holiday party in December. Executive Council President Jim Swanke, Rho '80 has challenged the expansion committee to consider re-colonizing the Rho chapter, building on the enthusiasm of the alumni. |

Gene Shin, Omega '86 (Chicago), will be inducted into the University of Chicago Athletics Hall of Fame on October 23rd. Gene was a two-time All-American and four-time national qualifier in wrestling. Competing in the 190-pound weight class, he was the runner-up at the 1986 NCAA Division III Championship after capturing fourth place in 1984. He also claimed four consecutive Midwest Conference titles from 1983-86. |
