Registration is open for the 167th Psi Upsilon Convention and 2010 Leadership Institute. This year's meeting will be held in Champaign, Illinois June 25-28 in conjunction with the Centennial celebration of the Omicron chapter. |

The votes have been counted and it's official - the 47th chapter of Psi Upsilon is the Phi Nu chapter at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia. Installation of the chapter will be in September. |

The Psi Upsilon Foundation is pleased to announce the scholarship recipients for 2010-2011. Twenty brothers from twelve chapters were awarded grants ranging from $500 for merit based awards to $1,980 for need based awards. These brothers showed outstanding character in their pursuit of moral, intellectual and social excellence. Recipients will be recognized at the 167th Psi Upsilon Convention at the University of Illinois next month. Here's the list of this year's recipients. |

Sophomore Lambros Theofanidis helped the Tau chapter secure a Green Fund Grant from Penn that will pay up to $50,000 in energy efficient improvements to the chapter house. Improvements, which include re-insulation of the house, replacement of the steam controls and installation of new efficient lighting sensors, will save the chapter up to 50% in current energy costs. |

Brothers of the Phi Delta chapter (Mary Washington) spent their spring break in New Orleans repairing Lower Ninth Ward homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina. Not to be outdone, the Phi Delta alumni raised over $1,100 dollars for the Make it Right Nola Foundation, they were the largest contributor the Autreat autism organization (a summer camp for children and families with autism), and raised more than $1,000 for the American Cancer Society. A Bowling Without Borders event was held in Downingtown, PA to raise money for Doctors without Borders and their efforts in Haiti. In June they will be hosting their annual golf tournament and will be working with Autreat again for this event. Later this year, they will be hosting an event in cooperation with the Pennsylvania SPCA. |

The Sigma Phi Chapter at St. Francis University has started a new tradition of sponsoring a last lecture series by retiring professors. This year, Dr. Larry Rager, professor of accounting, shared his thoughts on 40 years of teaching. The chapter presented him with a plaque and shared a transcript of his lecture with the campus and Internet community. |

Harlan Coben, Gamma '84 (Amherst) has again this spring debuted his new book at #1 on the NY Times fiction best seller list. Caught is a fast-paced, emotion-packed novel about guilt, grief, and our capacity to forgive. Coben describes the writing of the new book in this video clip. |

Eric v.d. Luft, Kappa '74 (Bowdoin), a teacher of philosophy, religion, and history, was a ten-year-old sixth-grader when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Die at the Right Time! is the story of the cultural, political, aesthetic, and sociological development he shared with his rebellious peers. Luft remains an unreconstructed, unrepentant, and uncompromised believer that the best thing he ever did was to work against the Vietnam War. Die at the Right Time! shows the leftist ideals of the sixties as he experienced them. |

Jim Yannes, Theta '59 (Union) nearly won the oddest book title award for 2009 with his newest book entitled Collectible Spoons of the 3rd Reich. The New York Times gave him a shout out last month in their article about the award by London's Bookseller Magazine:
"Which of these facts is more surprising: that there is an annual contest for the year's most bizarrely titled book, or that a volume about Nazi eating utensils didn't win? Sorry, James A. Yannes, you placed 3rd!" |

Donald-Brian Johnson, Epsilon Omega '72, (Northwestern) is the co-author of Deco Decor: Porcelain, Glass & Metal Furnishings for the Home. This is his twelfth book on aspects of mid-twentieth century decor. DBJ's syndicated column, Smack Dab in the Middle: Design Trends of the Mid-Twentieth Century, appears monthly in antique publications nationwide. |

Jeff built a strong relationship with the University administration by helping to address concerns over the safety of chapter houses and implementing a five-year action plan for the Greek system. With the help of other rmembers of the Greek community, he drafted a proposal to the University to develop a new regulatory strategy for fraternities. Jeff was also an instrumental participant of the Judicial Inquiry Board, the student-run judicial branch of the Interfraternity Council. In the words of Robin Marcenac, current archon of the Tau, "Jeff is a model of what every Greek leader...should aspire to ." |

Allen Wolf, Delta '94 (NYU) debuted his first feature film "In My Sleep" in Los Angeles at Laemmle's Sunset 5. The movie opens at The Quad Cinema in NYC starting May 30th. It was the #1 new indie film in the country on its opening weekend. Check out the trailer, theaters and showtimes. Wolf graduated from NYU's film program and his first feature film won Best Feature Film from the Omaha Film Festival and the Audience Award at the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival. |

The Chi (Cornell) alumni board of trustees has created the Stanton F. "Tom" Weissenborn, Chi '49 Lifetime Service Award. The award honoring Tom's sixty years of service and commitment to the chapter will be the Chi's most prestigious alumi recognition. The award will honor those who advance the principles of Psi Upsilon in the life of the Chi chapter. The first honorees are Mike Bergelson, Chi '95 and Chris Hart, Chi ’72. |
